Default self portrait

Hey everyone, I wanted to post a self portrait. I am trying to learn (slowly) some off camera flash. This was shot with 1 SB-600 camera left. Besides the big shadow on the wall, please critique. I absolutely could not get the "nose shadow" to go away so if you have some tips there I would appreciate it. Also, let me know anything that looks good or if anything was done correctly. Thanks!

Camera: Nikon D90
Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 35 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: On, Return not detected

File Size: 309 kB
File Type: JPEG

A larger light source will soften the shadows. If you don't have an umbrella, soft-box, or brolly, you could try bouncing the flash off a white wall or a piece of white foam. Also, a small reflector on the side opposite the flash will help even the light.

Definitely some fill light on the right side of the photo, either reflector or a 2nd light source. Is the semi-circle in the corner the shadow of your head? Cloning that out might help, or retaking and adjusting lights so it's not there.

I do like the off-center composition. Maybe experiment with more lively background colors as well? Just a personal preference

it appears you are picking up a bit of the color cast from the wall as the white balance appears shifted towards yellow.
