Default Poverty: Our Social Responsibilities

Please don't forget to put in you comments and suggestions. Thanks. .

Poverty

I am posting this photo to remind each and everyone specially this holy week that we all have social responsibilities to take part in caring for the less fortunate ones. A part of it is to be considerate of them in choosing our future leaders or electing our officials during elections or what have you. We have a responsibility not just to take care of them but to give them opprtunities that us, fortunates enough, have. So I am pleading to all voters in Philippines to consider them in choosing our leaders on May 10, 2010. Thanks.

That goes double for us in the United States. There are some congress men and women who need new jobs...in the private sector!
Juan, you have a good photograph here though you have to be very careful with this kind of image. It is very easy to get 'preachy' and that is a huge turn off to viewers.

Thank you for your photo...

I am half Filipina, I spent most of my youth living in the Philippines and images like this will never leave my head.

Now that I live in Europe, I often have to give myself perspective to remember that my "problems" are not always really that bad.

Unfortunately helping the less fortunate gets lots of lip service and very little actual check writing or (heaven forbid) actually taking the time to physically help them.

Thank you for your comment my friend. I was inspired by this little girl when I was on my way to the church last Sunday. I felt so bad not to use my passion in photography and not to share this using this site for at least reminding people how lucky we are just to be able to view or check this site. I just hope that at least by doing this I came across to people.

Thanks!

Thank you for appreciating the effort. Have you visited here in the Philippines after leaving for Europe? Actually Philippines has improved specially on our tourists destination. You should visit the Philippines someday and rediscover how beautiful the Philippines is.

very powerful image, thanks for sharing!

I'm not a big fan of the heavy vignette, for what it's worth..I might lighten it up a bit.

The last time I was home was about four years ago... I was very impressed how much the country had changed. I'm hoping to go back again early next year.

Funny enough I still keep a 10 peso bill on my office wall to remind me everyday where I come from.
