Default Need advice...is it glare?

Hello! I am just starting out mostly taking pics for friends for now and thinking of starting a business. I love this shot, but I am not sure about the lighting. It was taken with my Nikon D60 on the landscape setting with a 18-55mm lens with a UV filter, and then converted to Sepia. I can't tell if the glare was blur or maybe glare from the sun. Any thoughts? Does it make the picture un-sellable? Any input is appreciated!

Thanks!

I think you missed the focus on this one. I can't see where the focus fell.

Thanks, I think you are right...I was clicking away so fast to try to get this shot, I think maybe I didn't get the focus right..any advice on how to avoid that in the future? I know that if I press the shutter release halfway it will focus, but I think sometimes I press it all the way too fast and it blurs...I hate messing up what would be a great shot!

Maybe figure out what part of the frame the subject will be in mostly and move your focus point to that area of the viewfinder.

The best idea I know of whether an image will sell is to offer it for sale to the mother of the child!

The focus makes it unsellable....I wouldn't pay for an out of focus photo of my son. No offense intended but you have a long way to go before going into business.

Don't get discouraged just learn how to us your camera and learn the different settings and keep trying!

I think that is a good point, I am no where near actually charging for pictures...I was only thinking about getting $40 for my time for the shoot and giving the disc to the Moms to do whatever they want with. For the record, the Mom loved this shot and has it in an 8x10 on the wall...when I asked her she said she felt the out of focus added to the art of the shot...I guess that really is the point is to capture how the parent wants to remember the child. (she was also given many in focus nice shots )

Thanks!

Thanks, I know I have a long way to go...I am not planning on making a ton of money, just word of mouth to friends of friends only charging a small amount for my time and then giving them the pics on a disc to do whatever they want with them...I figure I have to start somehow..it really is just a hobby at this point, but I am not discouraged, and I will keep on trucking!

Thanks
