Default My World - Does it work

It's a first attempt. What I wanted to do was completly isolate the subject from the surroundings and to convey that isolation, does it achieve that or does it look overdone. I can't make my mind up.

My World

Rick

Yes, it does isolate the subject, but I REALLY dislike selective color. Do you have a colored version I could compare it to?

Agree with Archersdad - the selective colour is a bit weird. Looks kind of creepy rather than conveying isolation - I'm thinking Hell Boy...

I looked at your Photostream...looks like you did the same thing with the photo "Gail_edited2 "and that was much better. This one is is little too overprocessed for my taste.

The truth is it looks s bit overdone. Maybe you should think about desaturating the background not all the way, but only a bit, or maybe by 50%. You can have a similar effect but not to that degree. Or maybe you should try to blur the background of the colour photo, without desaturation or selective colour

Thanks ~ Confirms what I suspected, it's "overcooked". Thanks for the comments, when I get back home and have a little time I'll redo it taking in the suggestions. Thanks again.
