Default baby/ first time with canvas

I would like to take my baby's 1st birthday photos with a few shots on white canvas. I have never tried this so wanted opinions. Baby was not cooperating so I know he has a missing hand-I don't like the pose, what I am looking for is opinions on wether the lighting is good before I buy a bigger canvas peice and try for real. Oh, this was taken outdoors by the way.

Thank you for looking.

A 1-year old who wouldn't cooperate? I remember those days. (My daughter is 12.)

I'm no expert, but this seems a bit underexposed to me.

I like the concept of using a white background with outdoor lighting. Why not keep experimenting?

I think the white needs to be more pure for the type of high key shot I think you're hoping to capture. You might need a light specifically on the backdrop, but someone better suited to talk lighting can help with that.

My two cents.

Why not include post processing in your work? Here is a sample (for illustration purposes) that include WB and skin tone fixes.
