Default Using flash on a sunny day...was it a good idea?

This a friend of mine that was kind enough to pose for me, and she was quite patient too
I just want to ask about the flash...I'm not sure if the light is good here. Would have it been better to use a reflector in such a situation? (sun at the back of the subject)
And question number 2: are the lips too saturated? I did a little post processing and I hope I didn't overdo it

I really like it! I like how the flash brings out her skin tone and removes any funky shadows

Sunshine should be used as a background and hair light only and should never be allowed to encroach onto skin because it will overexpose the skin and it leaves hard harsh shadows. If you MUST use sunshine, use it in the late afternoon and use a flash unit to bring the subject's exposure up closer to the sun's exposure as you have done above.

Before using a reflector to bounce sunshine back into your subject's face, try it on yourself. If you squint when the light hits your face, so will your subject.
