Default Mother Infant

I have worked at improving my b&w skills. I would like your feedback on this black and white image. Specifically contrast and B&W but all other comments are appreciated too.

The focus looks good as does the baby's face.

The problems as I see them are: Crop of the mother's face. The mother is 1/2 of this image. Had you not cropped her face off, you would have needed to back up or zoom out, then we would have also gotten more of the mother's hand instead of lopped off fingers, and more of the infant's arm. The back hand of the infant is distracting and the front hand is blurry due to movement. The brightest thing in this image is the mother's middle finger and fingernail of her left hand. Lastly the hair across her face should be cloned out.
