Default Elderly bench couple

Here is the shot:

Elderly Couple in Park - BW-0863 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

What exactly is going on in the upper right hand corner with the blurred tree branches and leaves?

How is the composition?

How is the black and white conversion?

I have thick skin. Thanks for any/all ideas and tips.

I must have misunderstood the directions. I thought it was strongly encouraged to post to flickr and figured it was a site storage thing.

Okay, thanks for the info.
I actually never would have used flickr if I had not read about it in the directions. I'll skip it from now on. Sorry about that.

I just checked out your site. I like the BW lightening picture a lot. Very cool.

I checked it out also. I'm a newbie at taking pictures so I've no advice for you. But I will tell you I love the picture it makes me wonder about the people in it. Do they know each other well, or just acquaintances.... really I like it.

It is a nice photo. I think the B&W works well. I feel that the sign on the back of the bench is a little distracting...do you think you would be able to remove that? I find myself wanting to read instead of looking at the couple in the picture. As for the top right corner...it looks like you've attempted to clone something out there...but not sure. Overall...good image.

The sign is distracting. I never even thought of removing it, that is a really good idea.

The top right corner is not cloned. I'm confused as to why it looks like it does.

I think you just missed a step.. Flickr's rules actually state that if you post from there, you must have a link back to Flickr... When you click on "All Sizes" and choose any (the Medium one for this site) size, you'll see this reminder at the bottom of the page:

Remember! Flickr Community Guidelines specify that if you post a Flickr photo on an external website, the photo must link back to its photo page. (So, use Option 1.)

Option one puts the pic into the post and not a thumbnail link like you have here. In fact, when you post your pic into the post, it looks rather lengthy but just shows up as the pic. For example, you'll paste this in...

GREATERTHANSIGNa href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/starrylaurie/4424924799/" title="bloom where you're planted by *laurie, on Flickr">GREATERTHANSIGNimg src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4045/4424924799_94f070da82.jpg" width="500" height="378" alt="bloom where you're planted" />

but all you'll see is this...

bloom where you're planted

As far as your pic goes, I like the b&w conversion you did. I agree that the sign is distracting, though. Keep shooting & sharing! =)

I was super confused there, but I've got the link thing figured out now. Thanks. I literally read your post half a dozen times and searched through the upload process here and explored the flickr site as well before I realized what you were talking about. That wasn't that easy to figure out and I had no idea there was a link at the bottom of the pictures. Thanks for the help.

Now, as for the flickr link rules, the first post of mine here is a link to flickr - so I assume that is fine. The picture I uploaded is mine, so that is fine as well. Am I missing something or did I misinterpret your post suggesting I had violated the flickr rules?

The link is what makes flickr such a big deal. I never could figure out why people used it so much. Jeeeez.
