Default My first picture

This is my first picture I post here. I just got into the DSLR world with my new Canon T2i and this shot was done using the EFs-18-55mm. I am new to photography and would like to know what I can have done to improve this picture.

Thank you in advance for helping me out.

Default I like this picture.

It is much better then my first picture I took with Canon EOS T1i four months ago
I like colors. Model face expression is great.
I think you have good exposure.
What I would do IMHO to improve this picture:
- focus on eyes
- use bigger apreture(f/4.0...f/1.4) to separate model from background
- get more light on eyes and face
- remember about background
- don't cut arms, hands when croping
Hope it was not to harsh.

that's a fantastic shot i think the face might be a tad under exposed .. a little fill flash may have helped, but otherwise i really like this shot! a little less crop too (if it was indeed cropped) would make it a little nicer

Default Original Picture

Thank you for all of the feedback. Since there were some recommendations on croping, I figured I would post the original picture. I would appreciate any comments on how others would have cropped this picture.

Thanks.

I actually like the non cropped version better....

She has a look on her face like she dumped something in back (even when the sign says "no dumping") and feels bad about it...

Hi srlalonde, welcome to dPS. That's an adorable picture and I do agree with haowong in that she looks like she did some dumping in the no dumping area. Do you have the EXIF that you could post for this photo?

Default EXIF Information

I'm new to this world so you'll have to excuse me. I think when you asked about EXIF this is the information you were looking for (see attached). In case that's not it or if there is a better way to share this information let me know.

Thanks.

I am new to photography too. I think the best way to start is to join Flickr.
It will make sharing your pictures, editing, getting EXIF data very easy to others.
Good luck.

I like your crop, a little tight 'behind her'. might want to leave just a tad more room as to include all of her arm.

Also word of warning for printing. If you want to print this picture, leave your crop a little looser than you normal would because you might need some room to adjust once you upload it to order a print.
