Default what do you think?

so, i did some shots for a friend of mine in cosmetology school to add to her hair portfolio - worked out well for mine too. the response has been positive so far,but i wanted to hear what you guys had to say.

I think your friend needs to keep practicing. sorry that was a low blow. The pic to me looks a little grainy like the ISO was set too high maybe. Your only responsible for the pic not the make up and thats good because I really think the makeup job doesnt look good.

I think it's a pretty interesting portrait, however, I'd like to see her eyes much more sharp than they are. That alone can make or break a portrait, which will always be a super important thing to consider when building a portfolio and making it stand out.

With respect to what dblightsey has written here, I wonder if the graininess is because of the low res of the attachment. Its difficult to truly critique an image that's attached because of the compression it goes through. You might want to try posting it from flickr or something so we can see its true quality. Since you haven't posted your exif data yet, it can't be said whether your ISO was set too high or not.

Compositionally, it works as an image for me, but not so sure how well it shows off your friend's ability to do hair.

I think the main issue I see is the white balance is off. It's very orange.

I think it's grainy as well. I like the image itself, however I don't think it really captures the hair style. Overall it's nice though
