this was taken during my friend's wedding.. my attempt to take a shot from her father's view using Canon 500D with kit lens.
** from daddy's view: the man on the side is her father.. like a father looks at her daughter as she gives mom a kiss for the last time as their little daughter.. ![]() Camera Maker: Canon Camera Model: Canon EOS 500D Image Date: 2010:03:10 23:13:46 Focal Length: 18.0mm Aperture: f/3.5 Exposure Time: 0.033 s (1/30) ISO equiv: 200 Exposure Bias: none Metering Mode: Matrix Exposure: program (Auto) White Balance: Auto Flash Fired: No Color Space: sRGB Last edited by merchie; 03-12-2010 at 12:40 PM. Hello merchie, welcome to dPS. What specifically would you like critique on? Please take a moment to review the http://digital-photography-school.co...rum-rules.html.

If you share your vision for the photo, that might help. I know you said "from the father's point of view", but perhaps tell us what you were thinking would constitute that idea, and we can help you from there. Personally, I find the man on the edge quite distracting, but if that was part of your vision it could change things. I would also have hoped for less of the ceiling, but you can't crop out too much if you want to keep the man. The tilt is also interesting--normally I wouldn't approve, but it could work here. The real problem with it is how it interacts with the ceiling--if you were to crop it lower and really focus in on the bride, that would let the tilt play a lot better I think.

hi matt, thank you for your suggestions.
well, it was a little difficult to get the right angle but I just had to take the shot. I was standing a few steps away from the man.. was thinking of getting a picture like from the father's view, as he watched her little daughter give mother her last kiss as their little girl before she becomes one with her husband. Something like that. |

This is a very busy shot. I dont know what to look at and all i seem to be ocusing on is everyone else with their camera.
I think your idea about a father view, but i dont think it translates in this photo. If you look at the bride and who im am asuming is her mother you will notice that the mother is looking directly at the camera. I think if you play around with cropping you might get a fantastic shot. If it was me i would foucus on the mother in the center and let the bride get cropped, her veil will let people know she is the bride. I amnot sure how big you will be able to blow the cropped shot up to but you should get at least a normal 4x6 or 5x7. HTH |
