Default Playing in the Snow

We got hit with a ton of snow over the last few days. I went out the other day to tray and capture people playing in the snow. I found this one guy making a snowman late in the afternoon and wanted to play with the late noon light. I am wondering about the composition, and the use of the sun light. Does it work? Does anyone have better tips for shooting in this type of light?

Meta Data:

f 2.8
1/1600
ISO: 100
fixed 85mm

Thanks for any help!

I think you've made great use of the light...everything seems nice and sharp...I like it!

I really like the composition and also the patch of sunlight hitting the snow in the foreground. Also really like the way the sun is backlighting the guy to make the rim.

The only comment i think I would make is that the guy, I think, is lost slightly because the central section (middle vertical) is so bright. With this in mind I'd like to see what it looked like with the light toned down a bit in the middle - either post prod or lower exposure (post prod now I guess!). But then again perhaps that would take away from the overall impact of the shot.

Please bear in mind that I don't really know what I am talking about, so if my advice is wrong I apologise!

Great capture either way, nice one.

I agree with Matthew...the sun creates a really cool effect on the photo, but it does pull focus away from the man....I think if you lightened him a bit in post this would be superb.
