Default Background separation

What are your feelings on the separation of the black shirt and the background? It is discernable on my monitor but just barely. Other feedback welcome. Thanks!

I can see it on my monitor. But either way, I don't think it makes a big difference. Would I like to see a bit more light behind her? Certainly, but as long as there is enough light to at least suggest where her arm is, I think you will be OK.

I can just barely make out the outline.

If you shot this in Raw it is absolutely no problem to "fix" this by going back to the original image and boost the exposure a bunch and save it, then in Photoshop combine the two images and erase all overexposure except her arm.

Hey bud,

I think it could have been easily fixed with a clothing swap.
Dark on dark isn’t good.

I can see a discernable line, but looking at the image all i really see is her head floating behind the little girl.

So 3 things you could have done to fix it.

1. Make the lady change to a lighter top, (not the option i would have chosen quickly, because dark backgrounds can be overpowering)
2. Use another light to give her an edgelight from the right and behind her, that will “edge her off” nicely.
3. Use a background light snooted onto the backdrop behind them. That will lighten the mood of the image as well as separate them from the background... AND give a natural vignette caused by the light. Kindof like this

nice cute shot though,
wont add much else,
i think the teddy should go, and the mom needs to sit up a bit more, or move her face out from behind the girl a little. It makes her look crunched up and hidden.

other tha that, its very cute.
beautiful mom and very gite little girl,
the expressions are just perfect for a "cute-mischevious kid with a happy mom.

Thank you all for the feedback! I will try some of the post processing suggestions as well as make a note try again with a background light or an additional rim light. Great stuff, I appreciate the comments & suggestions!
