Default Candid Portraits of my Son in the snow

I'm new here and trying to get better with candid portraits, any feedback would be helpful.

Ah man, he's adorable!

A good rule-of-thumb for portraiture is to always focus on the eyes if they show up in the shot, unless of course you're going for a more dramatic composition.

A great way to get candid shots is to set your camera on burst mode and keep it constantly at the ready, that way when your subject starts moving around you can catch every bit of it and not fall victim to those age-old "I blinked and missed it" moments. Also its great if your subject manages to notice you right when you're taking the shot... you can always capture that moment after the first shot when they start to relax!

Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the feedback! Please check out my new post on lighting. Do you think I got the focus right?
