I was wanting to know if the focus was too soft in this picture? What about the lighting? I only have access to natural light. I know this is informal portrait, but does it work?

i love the many looks for a teenager.....maybe i read too much into their expressions.....

you're right, the focus is too soft in this portrait.....my eye keeps going to the catchlights in his eyes and they are definitely soft.....the lighting looks nice though......soft shadows and nice modeling to his face.....i think you were going for the "pensive" look......but, i really would like to see him focused on the camera......same expression......just looking at the viewer.....
