Default Into The Woods

X -posted elsewhere so sorry to anybody who is reading this twice!

This was shot on location in a woodland area in Surrey. The idea was to create a sort of dark fairytale theme that wasn't too OTT. The fantasitc team present, who braved the cold and the mud, are models Anna and Patrick and make-up artist Jessica Hurley.

Any thoughts and feedback much appreciated as really looking to up the standard of my work this year. Particularly interested in knowing how people would complete the sentence "If this were my shoot, I would have.............instead".

I really like the first picture. It drew me in and made me want to look at the others. In the others it seems the shadows are a little harsh on her eyes so they appear really dark. In the last shot I can't see them at all. Not sure if that was intentional. I guess fill light would have helped or some off camera lighting somewhere if it wasn't intentional. In the 3rd shot, the girl looks a little uncomfortable...but not sure if that can be helped. However I like the lighting in the 3rd shot. Very warm, but not dark fairy-tale, and I know that is what you were going for.The paleness of her skin looks great against the red dress in the last shot. And that seems more in tune to your theme. Not sure about the 2nd shot. I am more curious to see what she is looking towards. So my eye drifts off the picture.

"If this were my shoot, I would have tried to incorporate more props to get the theme across, and use either makeup, angle, or lighting to brighten her eyes."

Thanks for posting!

Thank you for the feedback everybody. (And thanks Amber for re-enforcing that a reflector or some other light modifying was needed to "pop" the eyes and face - had had it already pointed out elsewhere and even realised it myself....bit of a long story on "Well, why didn't you just get a reflector out then?!?" - let's just say lesson learned!!)

Please take a moment to read the rules for the Critique section. Only 1 picture is allowed. I changed your other pics to be links to technically fall within the rules, but still.
