I think it is a little dark and a bit too much contrast.. but those are more personal than technical - that darkness maybe the exact mood you were trying to portray.
As far as composition, I think it is fine...however it is very common. Seems 99.9% of pics of drummers are taken at this angle...so maybe next time think out of the box, get elevated or get in between a drum head and symbol or... something to make it a bit more interesting...

I think we found where Tiger Woods has been hiding out! Or maybe I'm the only one that sees that resemblance?

Anyway, did you smooth his skin? It looks plastic-y to me, but it might just be the lighting or sharpening.

Also, is he posed or actually playing? I'm surprised you were able to freeze the motion of the drumstick at a shutter speed of 1/25.

As for the exposure, I think the darkness works for this image, but some additional noise might actually help with that gritty look and feel.

Yeah well Tiger should stay in hiding This guy looks a little bored, or maybe sick, not like he's rocking out, which is what I think drummers should always be doing I'd shoot more next time to try and get some intensity in his posture and face to go with your nice moody lighting. And some shots with motion blur of the sticks would be cool, too.

When shooting musicians, try to capture the audience instead of the background, if you could. In this situation, a wider lens would allow you to kneel right next to him and capture a bit of the audience. Good shot for this one!

Not really that bad for a beginner. But focus more on composing the shot than post processing it. Perhaps shooting from a lower or higher perspective would capture the action and rage of the drummer better.
