Default John Stratton

This is my friend John Stratton. I really like the shot but I feel like I could tweak it somehow to make it better. Any suggestions?

The main thing I see is that you cut off his side with the edge of the frame, and there's a line popping out of his head. Not that big of a deal, but if you're looking for improvements, that's where I'd start next time.

Not only that, but it's as orange as orange comes. White balance is big time off.

LOVE the concept. I'd love to see this wb'd nicely, and/or a hot bw conversion.

I like the shot too, great concept! I wonder how it would look if you did some cropping? Crop on the top, closer to his head. That would help to get rid of the "line coming out of his head". Crop on the bottom up closer to his hands. Then a little bit on one side or the other, I'm not sure which would look best. I'm guessing, the left - get rid of the line of lights. I think that would draw your eye more to his reflection, rather than the side of his face. I would also try playing with the white balance. Those are strong colors so it's naturally going to look somewhat orange. Just some ideas.

How does this look? I darkened him as well to make the reflection stand out more.

To me the whole photo is still too dark and the white balance still off. I really like the comp (except for that head thing...but you could crop even a bit closer...you don't need his whole self on the right when you have the reflection.
