Default One more baby picture...

Ok...one more of my boy....I keep posting these because I'm still learning and before I try anything formal, I want to make sure I have a solid foundation here....

I tried manually setting the white balance with a white sheet of paper (I need but don't have a gray card yet).

I wanted to know if whait balance was okay...but also how to crop this better without chopping out necessary parts( hands, hair, etc.)

I tried to focus on eyes, but light was low, no flash, and he was moving towards me...so I think my d5000 had a hard time with continuously focusing on his eyes.....

So, any suggestions or critique is welcome on white balance, focus, composition, cropping, or anythign else!!

f/2.2
35mm lens at 35mm
1/30 (I know too slow but with low light this is as fast as I could get in A mode)
800 ISO (I know too high but again, low light)

Thanks again!!!!!

Beautiful image. I cant notice the noise or any blurr due too movements, so it dont think there is an issue there.. abit of shadows on the eyes, some may not like this, but it's fine to me. Sharp on the eyes, nice eye contact. great... The only thing i'd improve is the hands which cropped out. IMO better to include them. Nice bokeh too.

Are the shadows by the eyes too distracting?

Thanks,

Cute pic.. you can try using a reflector (piece of cardboard with tinfoil...or a carwindow shield) on the floor to bring light into the shadows on his face, and put some catchlight in his eyes.
are you using window light or house lights? try playing with the white balance too, looks a little tungsten in color
