Default Concert

My friend Jobob did a benefit concert last night and asked me to come and take some pictures. This is one of the shots that I got. Absolutely no editing.

Critique: Composition, lighting, colors, contrast, anything else. Brutal!

From a composition standpoint, there is waaayyy too much dead space in this. Its a lot easier to show some emotion in the singer/subject if you fill the frame with them.

lighting on the background looks nice. I would try to get nice and close on the subject and outline the frame with that deep blue bg.

I like the idea, but you are right..theres maybe abit to much dead space. I do like the way it has been composed..but i think she wanted to get those lights up there in.

in terms of vibe and what im feeling and first impression was wow, i liked it..i feel like he is practicing and doing a mic test, sound check, no audience and is alone in this big auduitoriom/concert hall. So the big space above and ceilings gave me that feel.

mmmmm yeah..gives me the feeling that such a small person and is putting on a big show for everyone to see..
