Arrow Big Trouble in a Few Years!

I had a quick impromptu photo shoot w/ my niece Saturday; I tried to use mostly natural light coming in from the window, but also bounced my popup flash using a biz card to get a bit more fill. I was also practicing my manual focusing skills, and really tried to get her eyes nice and sharp. Unfortunately, I did not have a reflector, and I'm quite sure I could've benefited from one camera right.

I'm interested in your overall critique of the image. How's the focus? Color? (too saturated?) Does the exposure look good? Do you like the composition and pose? (she's quite the natural...)

I've processed it somewhat to boost the colors and make her eyes pop, which they really do naturally anyway. I only wish I had a different background...that wallpaper...UGH!

Thanks in advance for any and all feedback. I look forward to hearing your critique.

She is beautiful! I like the photo however I would like to see more saturation in the color...seems a little soft in terms of color. She has great eyes...I would make them pop a little more. JMO.

I like it. I'm not sure of her "real" skin color, and even if I did know, I have not calibrated my CRT since about July so it would make no difference what shows here.

Thanks so much cherrygirl. After processing another one from this shoot, I agree that the colors in this one may be a bit soft. I'm always weary of overprocessing the eyes to not make them look fake, but if you think they could use more, I can definitely go back and work on them some more. Thanks for your feedback

Well, thank you, Benji! I appreciate your feedback (was hoping for it actually), but honestly expected a more harsh critique (have seen your feedback for others here, as well as another forum). Her skin tone is close to actual (at least on my monitor), but as the PP mentioned, I do think it is a bit soft.

Thanks again to you both for your time and comments.

The lack of color doesn't bother me. I don't always think that more saturation is better. Sometimes I like the effect of "coolness" in the shot.

Nice shot, especially with a kit lens.

PS I'm totally pumped that with this post I'm no longer a "new" member!

Aimee,

I critiqued it! I couldn't find much wrong with it actually!
