Okay so I hope I'm doing this right. Can I be any more new?
I need some feedback on this photo I took of my best friend. I don't have a specific question, just curious as to what could have made it any better. Any comments or suggestions are much appreciated as I am just starting to learn on a new DSLR.

Love the high key look of this image and the soft vignette.

Suggestions. Using a faster shutter speed will eliminate camera shake, which is one reason for soft images. If you want a soft image it should be shot in focus then softened post capture.

Move the subject out from the background enough that her shadow falls on the floor behind her and not on the background.

She is posed square to the camera. You usually shoot portraits at a 45 degree angle. This is especially true in prego pix to emphasize just how pregnant she is.

This type of image is what is known in the business as a "crotch shot" and is not considered flattering. Some image makers like to shoot these to make their subjects look more seductive or appealing, two things most pregnant women don't want to look like!

Thank you Benji! The 45 degree angle is something I hadn't considered and moving my subject away from the background was the simple thing I couldn't figure out.

I appreciate your feedback and can't wait to use the suggestions for the next adventure.

I find the bling to be distracting for this kind of shot, especially the watch.

I'm new at this as well so I may not be much help, but I did want to say that I feel like her clothing is blending in with the background. I would definitely try to sharpen the image up or maybe even have her wear a darker shade of clothing so that it wouldn't be so white on white. Just my personal opinion. I like the shot overall.
