Default Wierd Angle?

My wife likes this shot, but I feel that something's not right and I can't figure it out. Can you guys help? Is it the angle, or maybe the hand being out of focus?

I thought it was be easy to take great shots of my own baby, but it's proving to be harder than I expected. Please feel free to comments on things besides the angle / focus as well.

Nikon D40x, ISO100, 50mm, F/4.0, 1/100s

Thanks!

First, many congratulations on the new addition to your family.

I agree that there is something a bit off about the composition. (I'm a newbie so please take my thoughts for what their worth...) I think the angle of the little one's head in comparison to the angle of the hands makes the two look unnatural.

Perhaps if you hand moved the camera closer to the surface of the bed and straight on to baby's face...

I like this shot and the only thing I would change is having it totally in focus. If anything I would have an all white background like you do on the top left. Keep it up thanks for sharing.

Shooting up into the human nostrils is almost never a pleasing angle.

Beautiful baby!! I have seen this pose a lot with newborns and it is lovely. Next time, I would give more space in front of the babies face, focused a little more around the baby and make sure your white balance is correct. WONDERUL PICTURE!!

Thank you all for your comments. I'm going to try this shot again taking into consideration all the input you've given me.
