Default First attempt at a photo shoot

I shot this in BW and the only processing I have done was fix a dark spot under her eye and play a bit with the lighting.

Please let me know what you think. Thank you.

Edited Version

Was shot around 1:30 on a very sunny day.

Taken with Panasonic Lumix DMC-Fz8

Exp 1/500
f/3.2
Iso 100
Focal length 8.2mm

Hi Chaoslillith,

I must say I love the concept of your image! It is a great idea for a photo and fantastic for a first attemp at a shoot.

I probably would have changed her angle though so she wasn't squinting so much... I saw you said it was shot on a very sunny day but the major squint to her eyes I find very unappealing and I might have chosen to show a bit more of her face (so I wasn't cropping our her lips) or shown a bit less (so you could only see her eyes).

I understand what you were trying to do with the dark/black fencing but find it too much of a contrast as I notice the fence more than her but think if you had of done either of the above it may have been a more powerful shot! (Note: I said may... this is just my opinion! =)

All round great shot though and I look forward to seeing more of your work!!

Kbaby,

Thanks for the compliments!

The squinty thing was a problem that I did not factor into when planning this shoot hehe. As my housemate would say, a strategic error. I guess that is what happens when you haven't taken pics of people in the sun yet, rocks and plants don't squint.

I actually made the shadows a bit darker than the original shot but I can see how that contrast could be distracting.

I will keep it in mind for the future.

Here is one I took when I zoomed in on her on the bridge and it is in color.

I,too, like the concept. However, the fence is too dark and the highlights on her back and the sky behind are blown out. I much prefer the look of the close-up.

I agree with others here that the concept is great but the actual execution didn't turn out as well as you may have hoped. The fence is too dark - distracts too much from her face. And I also agree that she's squinting a bit too much. The close up is much better but I still find there's a bit too much fence... perhaps a little cropping might help. Good concept though, just needs some different lighting.

Is this a bit better of a shot? I cropped and lightened.

I couldn't lighten too much as then her face would be way to white. I am using ACD See pro.

Is the crop a bit better though with less fence?
