Cool Photograph of Kaitilin (first post, hopefully I'm doing this right)

Kaitlin

Camera: Canon EOS REBEL T1i
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/4.5
Focal Length: 37 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

Additional: I used picnik to remove a couple blemishes and converted the original color photo into a sepia tone

I took this photo during an amateur shoot on my school grounds. Any constructive criticism would be really appreciated being as I plan to major in photography this fall and would really like a jumpstart on ways I can improve. Thank you!

P.S. - I apologize if this was not posted correctly, I just came across this cool site today and am still learning how it all works.

hey I like your composition on the photo and the overall feel to it but I think its a little blown out camera left and the hair in her right eye is distracting. Thanks for sharing your pics and keep up the good work!

I REALLY like this =) I think everything about it is great, from the pose, to the blown out light behind her. I wish you would have either done this vertical or just wider to get her chin into the frame, but I love the feel of the pic. Good job =D

The overexposed skin kills the image, and using a wide angle lens in a closeup shot of someone's face is a no no, just look at what that lens did to her nose.

Default thank you for the comments

dblightsey - I didn't even notice the hair in the eye at first but now I definitely agree it's very distracting. Thanks for the input!

OperaGhost20 - Thank you for drawing my attention to her chin, now I know a couple more things to watch out for in my photos.

Benji - Oh jeez. I didn't see her nose like that before. :| Thank you for pointing that out!

Thank you everyone for giving me things I can improve on, I really appreciate it.

I agree with several of the previous comments. The blown out area camera left is a real problem. I,too, would like to see her chin. I would not change the orientation, I like the way the horizontal works with the hair. I don't even mind it going into her eye. I would have liked it better if you had been able to step back a bit and maybe zoomed back in for the framing. Shorter focal lengths do tend to emphasize what is closer to them, her nose in this case. The tint is a little green for my taste, but if you like it...
