Default Keani and Deliliah

This is my fellow musician Keani and her cello Deliliah. This was shot in my dorm room with a black sheet as a backdrop. I used a lamp for some lighting and sorry guys, flash on my camera that I diffused with some muggy looking plastic. I also added a photo filter for the coloring and cropped. Critique on composition, color, contrast and lighting please.

Your ISO needs to be higher. The photo is very dark. I think if it were lighter it would be much more what you were looking for.

I really like this shot. My only critique is the subject is too dark. You need to increase the ISO or just add more light to shot. Good job though!

I brightened up the photo in Photoshop and the background stayed pitch black, so I think you could afford to properly expose the subject with this set up and still get the dark backdrop that you achieved here. Also, I think you could increase your aperture to get better exposure without having to increase ISO (and potentially add noise).

Like the idea and the colouring. Agree it's too dark...you could play with exposure and curves and see if you get some neat effects. Wondering what a more portrait crop would look like...but there were probably space constraints (been there).

daddyoprodcutions: There were serious space constraints. I hung my backdrop in the doorway of my little college dorm haha.
I messed around with the exposure. How does this look?

That's a big improvement.
