i believe your grain is coming from underexposing the shot.

Check reviews on your camera from pro magazines and websites. I foudn out my camera is considered a medium noisy camera.

Just reduce the noise in your PP. Some shots I get are perfect others are grainy. I am still figuring out the limits myself.

I agree that the iso needs to be dropped further, preferably to 100.....would need a tripod without a flash...I would use a low level fill flash, even outside if for nothing but lighting up the eyes with catchlights....eyes look dull without alittle light sparkling from them....1/50th is too slow for handheld...I think in this particular situaton, the fill flash would have sharpened the shot some
