It's just been released, as per the rumour. The rumour was posted yesterday, and it's been confirmed today, per se.

With all the anticipation leading up to the K-7, that K-x seemed to come out of nowhere! That is a SERIOUS camera for an entry model, so much so people are having trouble deciding if it's supposed to be the new entry model or the new mid-range one. It's got specs like a mid-range model, but it's based on the form factor of the previous intro model and isn't weather sealed.

And, of course, there's the Apple iCamera aspect to the ordering, at least, for Japanese customers:







Spec-wise, it smacks around the 40D, 60D, and Rebel series. The lack of weather sealing is really disappointing though, because it may indicate a lack of commitment to what they HAD been pushing as a new focus for Pentax in the rugged outdoor market.
