Someone convince me I shouldn't get a K10D

Ok, so after a post on forums.manualfocus.org I got to looking at the K10D and decided it was worth the extra money over a K1000D. Here's my reasoning to ditch the 300D:

--I can't focus at all with the stock screen
--The camera won't meter
--No focus confirmation

The Pentax is compatible with 24 million (!) lenses such as the Pentax-A and -S series as well as using a K -> Screw mount adapter, not to mention the Tamron Adaptall K mount. The focus screen is bright, the camera will meter correctly, and will offer focus confirmation with all lenses.

So is this a lock? Am I thinking right? Since I only use manual lenses as it is, the Canon seems better since it can accept a ton of lenses from Pentacon 6 to T mount. I'm looking for some thoughts from those who have used it for an extended time, and better yet, those who have used manual lenses

PS: is the battery grip worth it? I'm assuming it is...

A bit cheaper and you don't have to buy new glass.

Define "the camera won't meter"

It won't meter in Av (Aperture priority) mode. When I first turn it on, the camera does ok for a while, but sometimes will go straight to blinking "4000" for 1/4000 (too much light). One time it even gave me a 20 second exposure even though I was consistently in the 1/160-1/250 range. After this, it went into blinking "4000" and won't give an accurate reading. I just keep it in Manual mode and bracket my exposures to find the right combo. Cycling the power does not help for whatever reason.

I've had my "eye" on the KatzEye for a while now, but it will effect metering (if it worked in the first place )

At the moment, I have one EF lens and 2 Pentax lenses

This probably isn't the right place to be convinced *away* from that decision. The K10D is a really nice camera with an amazing price.

The microprism version doesn't affect metering (sorry, I'm a grammar whore, I can't help it).

Have you called about a warranty claim? How old is the camera?

Yeah, the light meter and processor are the parts that effect metering.

Sorry no can do. I absolutely love my K10d. Okay, I know we are not supposed to love things. I really dug into the manual and another magic lantern book put out on the K10d.

For me, the grip is a must; it carries that extra battery and the grip makes it right in my hands.
