Default Should I purchase a K20D still?

I have been considering purchasing a K20D, but I just saw this article . It would irritate me if I bought a K20D then not too long after Pentax released a replacement to it! Should I still buy a K20D? Or just wait for the replacement?

It's a wild rumour making nonsensical claims about products yet to be even hinted at with no reliable source. You could get a similarly accurate prediction of what the K20D's successor will be by asking your postman.

Buy the K20D now if this rumour is the only thing holding you back.

I know it's just a wild rumor, but I thought someone on here might know more about it.. But the only other thing holding me back is there aren't a lot of reviews I have found for it, but the reviews I have read are quite positive.

Well, the rumour makes no sense given Pentax's current lens roadmap, which has almost nothing but DA lenses that would not fit on an APS-H sensor. Spending the kind of money it takes to develop and produce such a huge number of lenses and then releasing a new flagship body that could use none of the new lenses would be fiscal suicide with the added benefit of angering your entire customer base.

Even if it were true (in which case I'd tell you not to buy Pentax, but disregarding that), there's always something bigger and better on the horizon, and unless next camera's release is imminent, always holding off for the next big thing will end with you in a perpetual state of waiting for the next release.

tl;dr: Buy it!

Alright, what you say makes sense. I'll probably be buying a K20D soon, I might just buy the body and get this lens with it instead of getting the K20D with a kit lens.

At any rate, even if another camera comes out, your K20 won't stop working or become obsolete. And the camera makes little difference to the quality of the pictures.

I still meet people taking pictures on rolls of plastic smeared with some sort of photosensitive chemical goo every now and then (eww). Apparently it's a variation of what they did in the XIXth century. Very quaint IMO but they don't seem to mind and some even manage to take good photos. Go figure.

I almost hate to admit this, but occasionally I use lenses that require me to reach to the front of the camera and twist a hardened metal ring to adjust the aperture blades and then twist an entirely different ring in order to focus, and if I'm off by so much as a few degrees, the entire picture is blurry.

On a more serious note, do you have other lenses? While a 50mm is a great lens, without a kit lens it seems like you'll lose some serious flexibility for general use.

No I don't have any other lens besides my 50mm. I'm used to use a 50mm though so I could survive till I got a lens that has a little more flexibility as well.

Don't forget that with the sensor crop factor your 50mm lens will be a 75mm lens on the K20D.

The 18 - 55 kit lens is much better than most kit lenses, particularly the Mk2 version, and will increase your scope. It only costs £30.00 more than the body price here in the UK, its just not worth being without it.

Indeed if I bought it I would get it with the MK2 lens.. But I'm thinking of getting a Canon camera now.
