Hi Guys,
I was just wondering if anyone can help me out. I have a K100 and some of my Dad's older lens from his K1000 (i.e. not AF digital lens). The lens are interchangable but I can't work out how to use the older lens on the K100 in manual mode.....i.e. there doesn't appear to be a light meter reading in manual mode when I use one of the older lens on my K100. Is this correct or is it something that I'm missing?? ![]() Should I be using an external light meter? Kit |

I have an istD* and, by changing it to Manual Focus, it will use older "A" type lenses (those with the "A" on the aperture ring). It will even give focus confirmation. For even older lenses I have to change the custom setting to "F stop other than A", go to Manual Focus and Manual operation. To get the metering information I hit the "green" button and up comes the correct metering info.
I think that something along these lines will probably work for the K100s?? Hope that this helps, Coldavo. |

Yes, it works fine on the K100D - I have that camera and some old lenses (even without the A on the aperture ring) and they work fine with the steps noted in previous replies. The "green button" on my K100 isn't green, I use the AE-L button. If the lens has A on aperture ring use that (or not) ... if not set the aperture where you want it and press AE-L - the camera will meter and set the appropriate shutter speed. The kit lens from my old K1000se was a 50mm prime lens - it is still one of my favorite lenses ... with it's F/2.0 aperture it gives some mad bokeh

Thanks for that information guys. I was begining to think that I'd have to go out and invest in some new glass....but then again....
Will have to come up with some other way to convince hubby to let me "invest" in the 77mm f1.8. Much appreciated Kit |
