Default New camera!!!! :) :)

I just got my Pentax K-x in ....I'm in love!!! I can't wait to discover all the amazing things this little bugger does!

That being said...it came with the kit lens, and then two attachments...a digital HD 2x Telephoto lens and a Digital HD 0.45x Super Wide Angle Lens with Macro....and I have no idea what either of them do!

My mom's camera has a 70-300 mm Tamron Telemacro zoom lens...I think I'm going to get one since they seem to run around $100...unless there is a better one to look for in that price range? I need something with a good long zoom because a lot of times when i shoot horses (shows, jumping, shots for sale pages, etc) I can't get right up close...

but OMG i'm so excited!!!!

Congrats! The K-x is a killer camera to start with. The kit lens should last you for a while in terms of versatility. And once you get a feel for why its holding you back, you can look at upgrading.

You can experiment with the 2 attachements and see if they do anything for you, but I would probably just toss them out. They are just going to degrade the image quality.

The Tamron 70-300 is an okay lens for its price. I have one but don't use it. The purple fringing and chromatic aberration at every aperture was too much for me. The Pentax 55-300mm is closer to $200-300 but is in a whole 'nother league optically.

I posted a question on the Forum today, but haven't yet rec'd any replies. You may be able to help though. Sounds like you know a lot about photography, and I love your photo blog! Anyway, I have a Pentax K10D (bought maybe 5 years ago?) that I've been learning to use. I have 2 lenses: 18-55mm and 50-200mm. That, of course, makes me crazy because I can't be switching lenses every time I want to go from normal to zoom or vice-versa. I was thinking of maybe buying a lens that would be 18-200 or 18-300 or whatever they make that will go from 18 to whatever. Can you make a recommendation that will work for me? Thank you for your time.
