Default Is it supposed to make that noise?

I got a K10D a month or so ago and thus far I've just manually turned on the dust removal feature. Today I set it to clean on start up. When I've done it manually, I can just hear a faint noise if I put my ear up to the camera. With it on start up clean it makes a fairly audible "clunk" noise. Is that normal? It appears to do it every time I turn it on. I'd really hope my little baby is ok =].

There appears to be another MikeM. I'm not him, I'm me.

According to the Pentax Forums on Photography Review, yep, that's perfectly normal.

Although I have to say, starting a sentence out with "Is it supposed to..." always makes me laugh a little since usually when I start a sentence like that I've usually screwed something up royally.

Yeah, it's a rather loud feature. It should be exactly the same noise as when you trigger the function manually, though. Are you sure that when you're triggering it manually you're actually having it shake the sensor, and not just using the "mirror up" function (which is intended for when you're cleaning the sensor yourself)? That produces a much quieter noise, as your camera is only lifting the mirror up as opposed to vigorously shaking the sensor. Both options are right next to each other in the menu, if I remember correctly.
