Hi everyone
I'm new to this forum, actually i'm also new to the world of photography. I bought a Pentax K100d off a friend for a couple of reasons really: 1) I have always been interested in photography and I love any electronics systems. 2) My friend was desperate for some cash so i offered to buy his camera off him for a reasonable price. I paid £150 for the camera, kit lens, camera bag, and u-v filter. I Also have a Velbon camera tripod (A big giant thing too) which i got from a car-boot for a fiver. After talking to my brother he recommended that i got a new lens for the camera maybe a 50mm f4. My main problem is, i don't have a lot of money to spend and i have no idea what lenses would be of an acceptable quality. If there is any area you think my money would be better spent then again please let me know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Greg |

Do you have any lenses now? Do you need auto-focus?

That's the real question. Are you an ELECTRONICS fiend, or a TOY freak? If you're like me, and you love gadgets and toys, there's absolutely nothing that'll be as satisfying as building a collection of the SMC-M series prime lenses on the cheap. They are satisfying to hold, satisfying to use, and will teach you a TON.
Admittedly, they take a lot of work, but it's worth it. *Edit* Incidentally, this is your best absolute resource for opinions on Pentax Lenses: http://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/ I personally recommend, for someone who really wants to learn the details of everything to start with the M Series Primes. The SMC-50 f/1.7 is maybe the best, cheapest lens you'll ever see, and you can get it used easily for less than 50 USD.
