I'd go with something like this + 4 extra AA

Amazon.com: Sanyo Eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargable Batteries w/ Charger: Electronics

I actually picked up a pack of 8 AA + recharger + 2 AAA and C and D casings at costco for $20 a while back. They have them occasionally but I didn't see any on the site.

I only use them for my speedlights now since I upgraded to the K20d. They usually gave me about 700 shots or so. The batteries themselves are much better than regular rechargeables because they don't die after 10 recharges like the sony and energizer batteries I have used. They also hold their charge, so if you let your camera sit for a month, they will still be ready to go.
