can't "turn on" HDR mode

i can't turn on hdr mode on my pentax k-x...i go to menu then i see hdr mode off. i try clicking on it but it just skips over it..? help?

Generally, greying out a menu option means that there are other options active that make the option impossible, HDR in your case. The answer should be in your manual.

For example: Cross Processing or Digital Filter active? No HDR.

Look for HDR in the appendix. Check page 191 in the English manual, probably close to 191 in most other languages.

If you have your camera set to capture RAW, or RAW+, HDR won't work. You'll have to set it to JPEG only for HDR. Look on pages 191 and 228 of your manual for more info on HDR capture.

Did you get the part about reading the manual? Heck, one minute online with the Pentax manual and this Canon user knew that. I just didn't mention RAW because I thought it might be a good idea to ... drum roll ... read the manual.
