Default My first attempt at Astrophotography

I just came back from a family vacation in Sarasota, Fl. I noticed that the beach was very dark and you could see lots of stars, specially after midnight. So one night I took out my camera, conviced my wife to go with me to the beach at 2:00 AM and took these pictures.

Most pictures were taken at 20 seconds exposure, then stacked together with this free software, and finally edited them in PS to bring out the colors and the contrast.

If anyone is interested in the whole process, let me know and I could post the details on how to achieve similar results.

Exif:
Canon XTi
f/3.5
ISO: Some 800, others 1600
Focal Lenght 28mm

These are excellent, I especially like the second one for the color and contrast. I've wanted to try this for a while, but in my area it's difficult to find a place that's really dark at night.

Thumbs up

These are amazing. I would give a limb to have stars like that anytime soon. The second one is my favorite.

And Yes, please post a detailed tutorial on how you took these. Would love to try it out

Great work. TFS

Indeed! Great shots!

I've monkeyed around with these types of shots before but the stars always streaked and were out of focus. Would love to try your step-by-step.

TFS!

These are excellent to me! I would like to know the process as I am at the beach all the time since my mother-in-law lives there and I will be there in a couple of weeks. Again, excellent!
