Tomorrow I will post the last of the series. I will end on a hopeful note. Today, these are scenes that wrench the heart. The most important photo here is of a makeshift city. I call it Sheet City. With poles, sheets, blanket and tarps, people have built a place to dwell together. The rains are coming. Where will they live then?

Heartwrenching indeed Linda. Quite fascinating to yet again see how resourceful these people have been. Also that, despite the devastation and destruction, these scenes here seem peaceful. Some of the ordinary about them too - empty coca cola bottles awaiting collection seem quite paradoxical given the situation. Stillbright, shiny and sunny shots, but with their rainy season fast approaching, it's awful to think about what may come next.

Unimaginable. That's the first word that comes to my mind. Thanks for sharing these, Linda -- Mark's Haiti trip has opened our eyes and our hearts.

Thanks for sharing these scenes from a devastated world. Living in a part of the country that was hit hard by an earthquake in 1964, I can still drive around today and see the effects of the turmoil. Our prayers go out to all the people of Haiti. Somehow, they too, will be looking back at the horrible disaster they suffered through.

Thanks for sharing these. The reality of what's happened is really brought out in these shots. Especially the young lady with the bag of rice. Thanks for sharing these.
