Hi,
Im just a newbie in photophography so i hope i will learn so much by reading your post. i just want some questions though and hope someone can help me. I have a 450D and someone told me that best setting to play with my camera is using manual mode in manual focus. ive tried it a thousand of times but the exposure keeps on moving. is there anyway i can adjust the aperture and shutter speed without moving the exposure? thanks again. |

What you're seeing changing is the meter is telling you how bright the current scene is, relative to the exposure that you picked. If the meter is to the left of center, the scene is darker than the "normal" for that exposure, based on the camera's computer judgment. If the meter is to the right of center, the scene is lighter than the "normal" for that exposure, ditto. If you're metering, say, a snow scene, you would want the meter to be near the far right edge because snow is considerably lighter than "normal scenes". If you're metering a neon sign at night, you would want the meter to be near the far left edge because the unlit background is considerably darker than "normal scenes". In manual exposure mode, it's up to you, the photographer, to judge the relative brightness of the scene and to set the exposure so that it properly reflects your vision of how the scene should be captured. |
