Default Indoor Soccer Question

I just switched from a Nikon D90 to a Canon 7d.

I was comfortable with my Nikon but wanted to be able to shoot my son's soccer games at more frames per second. I was told it would blow away my Nikon.

Even though the 7d seemed to blow aqay the Nikon on paper, seems the Image quality is not as I expected. I had the chance to shoot "indoor Soccer " with typical indoor lighting and the results were terrible! Could someone suggest some indoor settings that I could try for next weeks game? Mode, iso, stop, ect . I use a 24-105 is "L".
I shoot mostly outdoors but now the boys are inside due to the weather.

Hopefully by the spring I will save enough clams to get a long zoom. I heard the 70-200 is a winner.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

If you had to crop and blow up from your original frame captures from having to use the 24-105, then yes, you'd get noise as big as golf balls.
Here's what you do.
Do a test during warmups...shoot different shots at ISOs ranging from 800-3200. Shoot on manual at f2.8 with shutter speeds ranging from 250, 320, 400, 500 to 640.
Good luck
Next time post your photo with the camera capture info as that will give up a better idea on how to help you.

The 24-105 has a max aperture of f/4, which is normally too slow for indoor sports unless the lighting is just exceptional. You'll most likely have to use ISO 3200 or higher. Make sure you have a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the action 1/400 minimum, but preferably faster.

I second the suggestion to post a sample.
