Camera Self-timer

Hello
This is my first of hopefully many posts on DPS
I'm very new in the DSLR world and spend almost every hour of my day on this website.
I have recently purchased Canon EOS Rebel T1i or (500D) and have a question about the self timer.

so far I have noticed it has a 2 second and a 10 second timer And single/Continuous and remote timer.... is it possible to have a longer duration for my timer?

for example takin a shot once every 30/60 minutes?
Is there anything I can get that I can get to helpme with that?
Do other camera models have this feature?

I want to take 10 diffrent landscape shots at diffrent times or of someone sleeping and capture the changes that occur

Maybe if you check google to see if theres some kind of hardware timer you can attach that will fire the camera every so often. Or if you tethered it to a laptop and set it up to shoot at the desired time periods... just some guesses.

But.... why would you time lapse someone sleeping??? they may just notice everytime the flash goes off haha
