Default Your thoughs on burst mode?

I’ve been hearing about the difference in taking photos in burst mode. So, I decided to try it yesterday. Really, I am not sure if it is really that great. I took several shots. Each burst mode capture is one photo which has 16-frames and it looks like an index print. I cropped and copied each frame to a new layer to separate. The quality is terrible and the size is only great for blogging but not for printing. Your thoughts on this?

That sounds like a different thing than "my burst mode". As I understand "burst mode" it's just taking a few shots in quick succession. My 7D can do that at 8 photos per second, quite nice if you want to catch some fast action that's hard to predict. All those photos are full resolution RAW files, so no quality loss what so ever.

I agree with sybren, "Burst mode" is used to take a successive serie of shots in a short time, wich can be useful in case of a moving subject or action photography.

Some cameras have this kind of special burst mode: point and shoots generally. The camera manages to get something like 10-12fps by making tons of very small images.

You'd be best not using that mode: its almost useless.

Nothing!

Normally we use burst mode for fast actions, but we can use it in events, portraits or people photography if we wish to grab a slightly different expression on the face of the subjects.

I agree with you on it being useless.
I was taking picture of a gray bird - half the size of a flamingo. The bird was chasing its food, so I wanted to take a picture of it before it flies away. Since I’d been wanting to try the burst mode and the bird seems like the perfect subject. I learned that DSC-H1 is not great for it.

Your ISO is fine: you've got 1/320s at f/4. The thing is that the bird is backlit, so most of the detail in the portion of the bird we see is dark. I quite like it like this.

How big are the final images when you get them seperated?

The size was about 320 x 280. Too much noise to fix, so I deleted them all.
