You can work it out.
If it is a minimum sized field with a 70M boundary to the pitch distance. Cricket field - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and you are using a 200mm lens on a 1.6 crop camera then the vertical FOV will be 4.2M (a very tall man will only fill 1/2 the frame) http://www.tawbaware.com/maxlyons/calc.htm A 500mm lens will almost fill the frame with a very tall man (2.1M high) |

Won't help.
The vertical field (height) of view will be 3.5M for 300mm on a 1.6 crop camera 550mm will give you 1.9M This may give you an idea. (not my pic). Taken with 300mm lens on a Nikon D2x in high speed crop mode.. I think the Nikon (I am a Canon shooter) high speed crop factor effectively makes it a 600mm First time at Cricket - Steve's Digicams Forums |

Your best bet would be to rent it and try it out for yourself. I know this is not the advice that you want to hear, but then you will know exactly for your situation what is best. You can try renting from your local camera shop, or rent it from the Internet.
