Question RAW file converter

Hey all,

So im looking for a quick on the fly RAW file conversion app. I normally use Lightroom to touch-up and convert my RAW files. But there have been a few times when I just want to convert them without worrying about Lightroom. In a perfect world the app would just let me right click on a group of files or a folder and convert every file to JPEG. Anyone know of anything?

This probably won't help you a lot, but I've been trying out Rawstudio which is fairly fast even on my eee notebook and does batch conversion. But the program is for Gnome/Linux and that might not help you a lot.

But if you want batch conversion you give up your control of the converssion process and therefore the best result usually is in-camera. Why not shoot both RAW+JPG?

PhotoScape has a RAW converter in it.It's not the fastest but it's good and best of all it's FREE!

Don't know if you shoot Canon or not, but my Canon came with Digital Photo Professional which lets me convert RAW files.

Ditto what Susan said. Canon's DPP makes it super simple to batch convert, resize, etc.

Irfanview is another free image viewer that will let you batchconvert RAW to JPEG. Works well for me.
