Default Question on Cokin filters

I have a canon mark 5d II with a few ring type filters. Im not really familiar with any other type of filter but I have seen slide type filters? What do I need for this? I assume a ring adapter, the attachment, and the whatever filter I need?

You need to get the Cokin holders, which attach to the filter threads and then you need to get the glass plates that are the actual filters to slide into it.

As far as I know, Cokin is either bankrupt or on the verge to be bankrupt. I have the Cokin wide-angle P filter holder + an adapter ring on order. I've had it on order for months already, and they just don't deliver. I think it's better to take a look at another filter system - if you have some solid info, let me know.

Default Filters not needed

Hi to all,
With Digital systems- filters are a thing of the past, Almost every effect from a filter can be easily obtained in post-production editing. Also using any 'coloured' filter is in fact only removing digital colour channel data from your image (never to be seen again)
My only useful filter is a 'Polariser' which is great for reducing some reflections in water and shiny surfaces like forest foliage-intensifying the colour.
My advice- forget the cokin system (and all others), keep a polariser in your kit and be happy.

Funny that. How do you propose to shoot at f/1.4 in broad daylight? Or with a shutter speed of 30 seconds, also in broad daylight? Or how would you balance exposure of a bright sky and a darker foreground, without increasing noise in the foreground? I would use a ND filter (first two cases) or graduated ND filter (third case), I'm very curious how you'd do this with just post processing.

No answer from wobertc... somehow I expected as much.

Another reason I want to have optical filters (instead of PP) is that they also work for video
