Default Which mode is the best to use

Hi there

I have a bit of a silly question. Which mode is the best to use when photographing a wedding or people in general? Is there such a thing? I know people are going to say it depends on the light and so on but lets say you have excellent to moderate light available. Obviously if you are busy shooting you dont want to be changing settings the wholetime.

Last week I was shooting using AV. Its fine as long as the body is on a tripod but a tripod is not always convenient. I use the 500D. Should I rather just use the CA mode?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks Gavin

Well, you're right, it depends on a lot of things, like light. I shoot in either AV or Manual. Depends on how much time I have to set up my shot, where I am, conditions, etc.

As for AV being fine as long as you have a tripod, well, again that depends on conditions. It is very possible to shoot in AV without a tripod and get good shots. How long your shutter will be open has a bearing on the tripod choice. Shooting wide open, such as f1.8 you'll get a fast shutter speed in good light and have no need for a tripod. In good light you can shoot at f22 without a tripod.

Conditions, light, object movement (if it's moving or staionary) all will have a bearing on what mode you shoot in.
