Default monitor calibration

I would like to know if other people use a monitor calibrator, and what type.

I searched this site but did not find any articles about them. I have changed my monitor profile to sRGB and this improved my whites but wonder how accurate I am seeing the colours on my monitor to real life, especially under different lighting (natural to flouro).

Your comments would be appreciated, tks.

I use Spyder3
It helped in profiling a good monitor.
But a good monitor is still not a better monitor.
A better monitor will profile better with a good set of settings.
So next on the shopping list is a better monitor.
You should find information in the forums on the better monitors

a little confused by this, is a better monitor MORE important than calibration OR the next step after purchasing one??

Well technology says that a monitor with a IPS panel.
Will have better colours and a larger ranges of adjustements for profiling.

Just like I said before I now have a pretty good monitor but one of my next purchase is for sure a monitor with a IPS panel. I am following a few treads on the subject and picking informations & comments as they are posted.
