Default Any tips for shooting in the rain?

The rainy season has started here in Vancouver, and I know that I can get some awesome shots in the rain; it adds such a unique element.

I'm just wondering how you can protect your camera so that you can safely go shooting in the rain.

I usually put mine in a plastic bad with a hole cut out for the lens, and keep everything under an umbrella.

I've also used a plastic bag. You might also be interested in How to capture visual opportunities in bad weather

As long as you're not shooting macro, you should be able just to put a large ziplock bag over your camera, use a rubber band to keep the plastic stretched tight over the lens (no wrinkles)

Plastic bags seem to be the prevalent method, I've done a little research.

Acedrew, do you shoot through the ziplock?

I've also heard that some cameras ( I have a Nikon D90) can withstand the rain no problem, so you don't need a cover.

Sure, choose the brand with the clearest plastic! at .5 inches from the lens and stretched tight, there should be no visible distortion.

There are diffrent "element" covers. Kata do one. I have a padded cover that protects from wet weather and keeps it warmer.
