I think alot of people may say that they shoot RAW and adjust these details afterwards, are you shooting straight to JGP or to RAW?

Other than that It is a bit of a personal preference with a lot of the settings, you could go to extremes and get a colour or brightness and contrast test card to use to take pictures to check your photo against the image... but that would be extreme lol.

Try different settings to see which you prefer my tip would be not to set the in camera sharpening too high it may cause extra noise

Mojorison, I had a go at changing the settings in my camera when I first bought it, but that soon changed. It's best just to leave them at default. In Nautral I have the sharpness in the middle about 4. Contrast,Sturation,Colour Tone I left at 0.. Most of what I need to do is done post photo in CS4. And if you shoot in RAW there is so much more you can do to perfect your images.I put C1 on the dial as a septia and c2 as a B&W just for my own quick changes to view on camera, but that can be done PP.
