Help i have tried now many time to shot the moon but i can't
![]() Hey am currently working in Brazil, and down here is the moon pretty close so i have will like to take a picture of it. but no luck What to do i am using aNikon D90 with 200 mm lens everytime i have tried the halo gets to bright, what settings should i use. i am pretty new to Photography, but some told me that i should you a filter but that can be right, i mean it should be possible to just shoot it Henrik |

You'd be amazed at how bright the moon really is. There's the Moony 11s rule: ISO, 1/iso shutterspeed and f/11 aperture.
So, if youre on 100iso, you'd have a 100ISO, 1/100s, f/11 exposure. Of course, you can open up the aperture a stop and speed up your shutterspeed to get 100ISO, 1/200s and f/8.

I spot meter off the moon and then underexpose about 2/3 stop. Take several shots so you get a good focus. You'll find one or two that has the focus spot on. In PP i added quite a bit of saturation to get some color in it. 2 layers of sharpening ...........first with edge sharpening and radius 1.0 and second with USM and radius 2.0 Here is my result with 420mm lens at f/8.....................
